The Road to Hell Gets an Upgrade
In Death Race 5 (2025), the legendary prison-sport returns, bigger and bloodier than ever before. This explosive sequel propels the franchise into a darker, cyberpunk future where racing isn’t just about survival — it’s about total war.
Directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid), this fifth installment introduces a gritty new setting, savage new competitors, and upgraded killing machines that redefine vehicular carnage. It’s not just a race — it’s a rebellion on wheels.
The Story
Set in the year 2050, after the collapse of the U.S. justice system, the Death Race is now a global streaming sensation. The racers are no longer just prisoners — they’re genetically enhanced gladiators fighting for freedom in a lawless megacity known as The Grid.
When the mysterious driver known only as Ghost (played by Boyd Holbrook) enters the competition, he carries more than a thirst for victory — he’s on a mission to destroy the system from within. But to do it, he must face the reigning champion, Inferna (played by Ruby Rose), a ruthless speed demon who kills without mercy.
