Foxtrot Six is a 2019 Indonesian sci-fi action film directed by Randy Korompis and produced with support from Hollywood producer Mario Kassar. Known for its ambitious production and large budget by Indonesian standards, the film aimed to merge Southeast Asian storytelling with the visual spectacle of Western action blockbusters.
Set in a dystopian near-future Indonesia, the film explores a world plagued by political corruption, food scarcity, and climate collapse. A ruthless ruling party known as PIRANAS has taken control of the government, initiating a brutal campaign to suppress the population. Former marine turned politician Angga Saputra discovers their dark agenda and decides to fight back.
To stop the regime, Angga reunites with his former elite military unit—known as Foxtrot Six. Together with a mysterious assassin named Spec, they launch a rebellion to expose PIRANAS’s crimes and ignite a revolution. The story also intertwines with Angga’s emotional connection to his former lover, Sari, who has her own secrets tied to the resistance.
Oka Antara leads the cast as Angga, supported by Chicco Jerikho, Julie Estelle, Arifin Putra, Rio Dewanto, Mike Lewis, and Verdi Solaiman. The action sequences, choreographed by Iko Uwais’s stunt team, deliver fast-paced combat, gunfights, and futuristic tech such as cloaking devices and mechanized suits.
The film was shot in English and used extensive CGI to create its futuristic setting. While praised for its visual ambition and fight choreography, Foxtrot Six received mixed reviews for its dialogue and story structure.
Despite its flaws, Foxtrot Six stands out as a bold step for Indonesian cinema—one that dares to dream big, tackle global themes, and bring a new kind of action filmmaking to Southeast Asia.
