A Beloved Ocean Epic Reimagined

Disney sails into uncharted waters with Moana: Live Action (2026), a visually breathtaking reimagining of the 2016 animated favorite. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), this new version blends Polynesian culture, myth, and music into a stunning live-action odyssey celebrating courage, heritage, and destiny.

 The Story

Set centuries ago in ancient Oceania, the film follows Moana, a brave and spirited young woman chosen by the ocean to restore the stolen heart of Te Fiti — the goddess of creation — and save her people from ecological collapse. Defying her father’s fears and the laws of her island, she journeys beyond the reef, where she must convince the once-mighty demigod Maui to help her fulfill her destiny.

Together, they confront deadly monsters, volcanic curses, and the truth about their own inner strength in a journey that reawakens a forgotten world.
