Wolfs 2 (2025)

🎬 Wolfs 2 (2025) – A Canceled Sequel

âś… Initial Plans:

Following the success of the original film Wolfs, starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, Apple Original Films announced in 2024 that a sequel was officially in development. The film was expected to release in 2025, with Jon Watts returning as writer and director. Apple envisioned Wolfs as the beginning of a stylish crime-action franchise—much like John Wick or Ocean’s Eleven.

The original film introduced two elite “fixers” from the criminal underworld who are forced to work together. The sequel was set to dive deeper into their partnership and the dangerous world they navigate.

❌ Why It Was Canceled:

Despite early development and internal excitement, Jon Watts exited the project later in 2024. The reason: Apple unilaterally changed the film’s release plan, shifting from a wide theatrical release (as promised) to a streaming-first strategy via Apple TV+.

Watts was reportedly not consulted on this change and later stated he “no longer trusted Apple as a creative partner.” He returned the production advance quietly and officially walked away from Wolfs 2. With his departure, the sequel lost momentum immediately.

🎭 Consequences:

  • Jon Watts left the project, ending all creative progress.

  • Brad Pitt and George Clooney were believed to be committed to the sequel only under Watts’ direction.

  • No replacement director has been named.

  • Apple halted all development on Wolfs 2, and the sequel is now considered canceled.

📌 Summary:

  • Wolfs 2 was announced for 2025 but was canceled in late 2024.

  • The cancellation followed a fallout between Jon Watts and Apple.

  • Creative differences over distribution plans (streaming vs theatrical) were at the heart of the dispute.

  • The sequel will not move forward under its original creative team.
