X-MEN: THE LAST STAND 2 (2026)

Where the X-Men Will Appear First

The mutants are expected to show up in Avengers: Doomsday, hitting theaters on December 18, 2026. This massive crossover film will reportedly bring back fan-favorite characters from the Fox-era X-Men films via the multiverse, including:

  • Patrick Stewart as Professor X

  • Ian McKellen as Magneto

  • James Marsden as Cyclops

  • Rebecca Romijn as Mystique

  • Kelsey Grammer as Beast

  • Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler

  • (Rumored) Channing Tatum as Gambit

These characters will appear as alternate versions—multiversal variants—bridging the gap between the original X-Men franchise and the modern MCU timeline.

Secret Wars Will Launch the New Era

Just one year later, Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) is expected to mark the end of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga—and more importantly, act as a reset point for the MCU. That’s where the new X-Men team will be born, fully integrated into the universe alongside Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Avengers.

A Fresh X-Men Reboot Is Already in Development

Marvel is currently working on a new standalone X-Men film, which is expected to begin a completely reimagined franchise. The new cast will likely include younger, lesser-known actors in the roles of Wolverine, Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, and others.

One rumor points to Stranger Things star Sadie Sink being considered for Jean Grey, signaling Marvel’s interest in building a new team from the ground up.

The rebooted film is expected to release sometime after Secret Wars.

What This Means for “The Last Stand”

The 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand was the end of the original trilogy, but its direct sequel was never made. Now, almost two decades later, Marvel isn’t continuing that storyline—instead, they’re starting over.

So while “The Last Stand 2” doesn’t exist, fans can look forward to a bigger, smarter, and more connected version of the X-Men franchise—one that aligns with the MCU’s tone, timeline, and vision.
